Florida ObamaCare Open Enrollment 2027: Key Dates, Deadlines and What's Changing
Updated October 12, 2026 · By the Arte Insurance team · 6-minute read
If you live in Florida and buy your own health insurance, mark these dates: Open Enrollment for 2027 Marketplace (ObamaCare) plans runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Florida uses HealthCare.gov, so the federal dates apply to you. Here is what each date means, what is changing for 2027 and how to get ready.
The key dates for 2027 coverage
November 1, 2026: Open Enrollment starts. You can sign up for a new plan, renew or switch plans.
December 15, 2026: Last day to enroll or change plans for coverage that starts January 1, 2027.
December 16, 2026 to January 15, 2027: If you enroll or change plans in this window, your coverage starts February 1, 2027.
January 15, 2027: Open Enrollment ends.
Your plan only starts once you pay your first month’s premium to the insurance company, so don’t skip that step.
After January 15, you can generally enroll only if you have a qualifying life event, such as losing other health coverage, moving, getting married or having a baby. This is called a Special Enrollment Period.
Federal rule changes would have shortened Open Enrollment starting with 2027 coverage. After a 2026 court decision, HealthCare.gov lists November 1 to January 15 as the 2027 dates. We will update this article if that changes.
Already have a Marketplace plan? Don’t let it renew on autopilot
If you do nothing, you may be automatically re-enrolled. But insurers can change plans, doctor networks and prices every year, and some plans may not be offered again in 2027. Before December 15:
Update your application with your expected 2027 income and household changes, so your savings are calculated correctly.
Check that your doctors and prescriptions are still covered by your plan.
Compare your total cost, not just the monthly premium: look at the deductible and the out-of-pocket maximum too.
Updating your income matters more than before. Starting with 2026 coverage, there is no longer a limit on how much of the advance savings you may have to pay back at tax time if your income ends up higher than you estimated.
What’s different for 2027
The extra “enhanced” savings are gone. The temporary boost to premium tax credits ended after 2025. Unless Congress changes the law, savings for 2027 are generally available to households with income between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level. How much you get depends on your income, your household size and plan prices where you live.
New rules for some immigrants. Starting January 1, 2027, premium tax credits are limited to U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), Cuban or Haitian entrants, and COFA migrants. Other lawfully present immigrants can still buy a Marketplace plan, but without savings. We explain this step by step in our guide: Who can get lower ObamaCare costs in 2027?
Prices change every year. Compare plans again even if you liked yours. The cheapest plan in 2026 may not be the cheapest in 2027.
