Fort Myers and Naples at a glance
Lee County, home to Fort Myers, had about 875,600 residents in 2025, and Collier County, home to Naples, about 417,100, by the Census Bureau's estimates. Both have grown since 2020 (Lee by 15.1%, Collier by 11.0%). The Census Bureau also reports that:
- 18.9% of Lee residents and 24.6% of Collier residents were born outside the United States, and 25.8% and 32.7% speak a language other than English at home (2020–2024);
- the median household income is $76,107 in Lee and $90,045 in Collier (2020–2024, in 2024 dollars);
- 16.8% of Lee residents and 16.4% of Collier residents under 65 have no health insurance;
- 29.2% of Lee residents and 34.8% of Collier residents are 65 or older.
Three questions Southwest Florida families ask about 2027
- A hurricane kept us from enrolling. Do we get more time? Possibly. HealthCare.gov lists a Special Enrollment Period for people who couldn't enroll because of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane. You must live, or have lived during the event, in a county FEMA made eligible for individual or public assistance, and you have 60 days from the end of the FEMA incident period to enroll. Lee and Collier were among the counties approved for FEMA Individual Assistance after Hurricane Ian in 2022. How Special Enrollment works.
- Our income changes with the season. What do we report? Savings are based on your expected household income for 2027, not last year's. If you're self-employed, use your estimated net income (profit). If your hours or commissions change through the year, base your estimate on past years and recent trends, and update your application when your income changes. Lee's median household income ($76,107) is below the 2027 limit for two people ($86,560); Collier's ($90,045) is just above it. There's no cap on paying back extra credit. Try the 2027 calculator.
- Does our immigration status matter? From January 1, 2027, tax credits will be limited to U.S. citizens and nationals, green card holders, Cuban and Haitian entrants and COFA migrants. Cuban or Haitian nationals who were paroled in or have an asylum case pending generally count as entrants if they have no final removal order. Other parole generally doesn't count, so those families can still buy a plan, usually at full price. See who qualifies.

Health care and help close to home

- Emergency care. Lee Health says it provides 24/7 emergency care; its emergency rooms include Lee Memorial Hospital (2780 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers) and an Emergency Department for Kids at Golisano Children's Hospital (9981 S HealthPark Dr, Fort Myers). In Collier, NCH North Naples Hospital (11190 Health Park Blvd, Naples) has a 24/7 emergency room and, NCH says, the county's only 24-hour pediatric emergency department. Check that the hospitals you'd use are in a plan's network: HMO and EPO plans only cover in-network care, except emergencies.
- Library computers and Wi-Fi. Every Lee County Library System branch, including Fort Myers Regional (2450 First St), has Wi-Fi, and the library's internet computers work with a Lee County library card or a guest pass. Collier County Public Library branches, including Headquarters (2385 Orange Blossom Dr, Naples) and Immokalee (417 N. First St), have computers and Wi-Fi, with guest passes for people without a card.
- Application help. HealthCare.gov's Find Local Help tool lists community groups that help with Marketplace applications.
Four ways to get started
- Call (786) 808-1802 and talk to us in Spanish or English.
- Book a call for the whole family at a time that suits you.
- Request a quote online in about two minutes; a licensed agent gets back to you.
- Enroll online yourself through our HealthSherpa link (a private enrollment website that works with HealthCare.gov).
We ask for your documented consent before helping with a Marketplace application, as federal rules require, and you review it before it's submitted. We also help Lee and Collier families with auto, homeowners, condo and renters and life insurance.
Questions from Fort Myers and Naples families
Do you have an office in Fort Myers or Naples?
No. Our office is in Hialeah, at 460 E 23rd St #209. We help Fort Myers, Naples and other Lee and Collier County families by phone and online, and in person only at the Hialeah office, by appointment. We don't take walk-ins.
Can you help us entirely in Spanish?
Yes. We help in Spanish or English, from the first call through your first payment, any document requests from the Marketplace and next year's renewal.
How do we approve you as our agent?
You'll get a one-time code or link by text, email or automated call. It expires 15 minutes after it's sent; if it does, we can send another, up to three in 24 hours. Never share your HealthCare.gov password with anyone, including us.
Can we enroll online on our own?
Yes. Use the Enroll online yourself button, or apply directly at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596. If you get stuck, call us: insurers pay us, so your premium is the same.
I'm turning 65 soon. What happens to my Marketplace plan?
Medicare's initial enrollment period starts 3 months before you turn 65. Your Marketplace plan doesn't end on its own when Medicare starts, so you'll need to end it, and once you're eligible for Medicare Part A you generally can't keep Marketplace savings. Plan the switch early: nearly three in ten Lee County residents, and more than a third in Collier, are 65 or older.
